Admission & Pre-authorisation

Dear patient

Kindly note authorisation for hospitalisation in Wilmed Park Private still remains the responsibility of the patient. We are only providing a service by assisting you to obtain authorisation. Authorisation requests are usually submitted 5-7 days before admission, not taking into consideration medical aid delays. All shortfalls and co-payments will remain your responsibility. Any applicable co-payments are payable before or on admission.

 

Kindly note the following documents are required for your admission:

1. Patient’s ID or birth certificate.

2. Main member’s ID.

3. Both sides of the medical aid card.

4. Fully completed bed reservation form 

5. All documents and reports supplied by your treating provider

A driver`s license will not be accepted as identification.

No exceptions will be made on any of the above requirements.

All authorisation requests must be submitted at least 3 working days before your admission. Late PAR (Pre-Authorisation Request) penalties may be applied by your medical aid for any request outside the notice period. Requests for all mayor surgical procedures must be submitted at least 5 working days before your admission.

 

Surgical Procedures

 

Anaesthesia

It is important to provide your anaesthesiologist with your detailed medical history and drug list.

It is extremely important that no fluids or solids are consumed for at least six hours prior to anaesthesia. Should you eat or drink during this period, your operation/procedure will be cancelled.

Admittance

Certain preparations are required prior to surgery and it is imperative that you report for admission timeously as described below.

Please note, you need to produce your ID-document and your Medical Aid card to the Admissions Clerk.

Day Patients

Day patients (discharged after surgery):

Ceasarian

Para-Medic

Should your doctor decide that physiotherapy treatment is necessary, he will make  the necessary arrangements with a physiotherapist of your choice.

 

Private Para-Medic facilities; eg:

- Audiologist
- Dietician
- Occupational Therapist
- Speech Therapist

Laboratory

Laboratory services are located in the specialist consulting room block.

 

 

 

Visiting Hours

At Wilmed Park Private Hospitalyour convalescence is taken very seriously. We have instituted visiting hours to afford the nursing staff the opportunity to provide you with optimal nursing care. Visitors may be approached by the nusing staff to take your condition into consideration. Please inform your visitors of the following visiting hours:

Morning: 11:00 to 11:30

Afternoon: 15:00 to 16:00

Evening: 19:15 to 20:00

 

Visiting at times other than these mentioned will be allowed at the discretion of the nursing staff. Your visitors may contact the Sister-in-charge of your ward to arrange alternative visiting hours. Every patient is entitled to rest and it would be most appreciated if you could ask your visitors to ensure that no children without adult supervision are allowed to visit you. Next of kin may visit you for + 30 minutes prior to and following surgery.
